Leadership Spotlight
Ross Cohlmia, PE, is the Founder, CEO, and Chief Engineer of Cohlmia Engineered Services (CES), bringing nearly two decades of expertise in manufacturing, mechanical, structural, and systems engineering. His career began with a deep dive into welding, training at Tulsa Welding School’s Master Welder Program in 2007 and earning certifications as a Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) and Certified Welding Educator (CWE). This hands-on foundation in precision manufacturing—honed at companies like Junoworks and Peterson Fluid Systems—set the stage for his engineering success.
After graduating near the top of his class with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering with a Mathematics Minor from the University of Colorado Denver in 2012, Ross excelled in the aerospace industry. At Pathfinder Systems, he designed military helicopter simulators in the US and abroad, securing three aerospace patents and US/NATO security clearances. At Sierra Nevada Corporation, he developed ISR upgrades for military aircraft, tackling complex designs like composite radomes, frangible hatches, and reverse-engineered CFD models of the C-130. At Sierra Space, he led teams in the design of primary and secondary structures for the Dream Chaser Spacecraft as well as leading Systems Engineering efforts for mechanical systems and structures, collaborating with NASA to meet certification standards.
Since launching CES in 2018, the same year he earned his Colorado Professional Engineer license, Ross has driven diverse projects, from consumer product innovations to leading teams of over 30 engineers in high-stakes test campaigns. His leadership at CES blends his welding roots, aerospace expertise, and systems engineering prowess to deliver practical, innovative solutions clients can rely on.

Pioneering In-Space Manufacturing
CES is at the forefront of developing scalable, autonomous technologies for constructing large space structures—habitats, stations, and spacecraft. Our R&D focuses on next-generation methods like Laser Beam Welding (LBW), Wire Arc Additive Manufacturing (WAAM), friction stir welding, and robotic assembly, optimized for the harsh realities of space.
Our Vision
The massive space structures of tomorrow require developing new tools today. We’re not just building tools. We’re architecting the infrastructure for deep space habitation. By moving beyond traditional approaches, CES is laying the foundation for humanity’s sustainable future as a space-faring civilization extending our survival as a species.

Projects | Case Studies

Sierra Space
CES engineers played pivotal roles as test directors and analysts in planning and executing multiple Dream Chaser test campaigns — Structural Test, Thermal Vacuum, Initial power-on, as-built verification, ISS/NASA Joint Testing at KSC, and leakage performance testing. Our teams supported Sierra Space’s reusable spaceplane for ISS servicing and beyond.

Vita Inclinata
CES engineers redesigned structures and seals for IP68 environmental qualification as well as designing the in-process testing methods for the production lines. Supported ASME compliance for above-the-hook lifting devices. Aided in securing Army Airworthiness Certification. Our durable, safe solutions advanced Vita Inclinata’s load stabilization systems for military and industrial use.

Cubic/Nuvotronics
CES designed and delivered a balloon-launched CubeSat in three months—concept to flight-ready. Our rapid, in-house process met strict specs, showcasing quality and speed for national security.
